What's Actually in My Morning Green Powder (And Why My Gut Responded This Way)

I didn't expect a green powder to change how full I felt

I've been taking Nuzest Good Green Vitality most mornings for a few weeks now. I wasn't testing it for any specific outcome, no target symptom, no expectation. But two things became obvious pretty quickly: my digestion regulated, and my appetite settled down between meals. That's the honest report. Not life-changing, not a miracle. What the research actually shows

The mechanism behind the appetite change is the more interesting one scientifically. A 2026 review by Casado-Hidalgo et al., published in the Journal of Physiology and Biochemistry, mapped out how dietary fibre modulates appetite through gut hormones — GLP-1, CCK, and PYY, the three signals that tell your brain you've had enough — alongside short-chain fatty acids produced by gut bacteria fermenting fibre. Fibre doesn't suppress appetite through willpower. It works through a real hormonal signalling pathway between your gut and your brain.

This product delivers psyllium husk (200mg) and apple pectin (250mg) per serve — both are viscous, gel-forming fibres. In the stomach and small intestine, that gel slows gastric emptying, which is one of the mechanisms the review identifies as central to the GLP-1 and CCK response. Food sits in the gut longer, those satiety hormones get more time to signal, and hunger between meals genuinely drops. That tracks with what I noticed.

On the digestive regularity side, a randomised, double-blind, controlled trial by Rasmussen et al., published in Nutrition Research, tested psyllium against another fermentable fibre in adults who described their bowel habits as unsatisfactory. After three months, stool frequency significantly improved across all groups, psyllium included, and participants self-reported meaningfully better overall bowel habit. This isn't a fringe claim, psyllium's effect on bowel regularity is one of the more consistently replicated findings in fibre research.

The product also includes two probiotic strains — Lactobacillus acidophilus (5 billion CFU) and Bifidobacterium bifidum (3 billion CFU) — alongside the fibre. Per the strain-specificity research I've written about before, having named strains rather than just a CFU count is the detail that actually matters. Pairing them with a prebiotic fibre source (the apple pectin) is a genuine synbiotic approach — you're not just adding bacteria, you're feeding the ones you're adding.

What this means for you

If your goal is specifically gut regularity and appetite control between meals, the two fibre sources in this formula — psyllium and apple pectin — are doing the actual mechanical and hormonal work. That's backed by real trial data, not just plausible-sounding ingredient marketing.

Worth being clear about what I'm not claiming: I haven't tracked biomarkers, I'm not asserting anything about mood, stress, or long-term outcomes, and individual results with fibre and probiotics vary a lot based on your starting gut microbiome. What I can say honestly is digestion and appetite — the two things I actually paid attention to — both shifted in a direction I'd call positive.

The biotype angle

Endomorphs managing appetite and satiety between meals are the biotype most likely to notice the effect I did — the GLP-1/CCK mechanism directly targets the between-meal hunger signalling that tends to be a bigger challenge for this biotype.

Ectomorphs should know that viscous fibre at meal time can blunt appetite more than intended if you're already struggling to eat enough — worth taking this away from your largest meal of the day rather than right before it.

Mesomorphs in regular training will likely notice the digestive regularity benefit most, since consistent gut transit supports consistent nutrient absorption around training demands.
